This fun hat uses simple methods so everyone, including beginners, can make themselves or their friends one. The yarn used in this design is an acrylic blend but you can make it any selection of yarn you chose.This is a pretty accessory that can be worn throughout the year but it will definitely go best for christmas time. Skill Level: Beginner - Easy
Size: The hat fits head size 54 - 58 cm (21" - 22") circumference.
Materials: 4.5 mm (US-7) hook, scissors, yarn needle.
Yarn: 1 ball of Double Knitting (DK) (1 ball of 100 gr/336 m) (Wraps per inch: 15 wpi). Any novelty yarn of your choice.
Stitches Used: Chain stitches (ch), stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), dc decrease.
Gauge: 10 hdc and 7 hdc rows = 2 inch (5 cm)
Note: Hat is worked in the round as circles from the bottom to top.
Instructions
Rnd 1: ch84, Insert the hook into the third chain from the hook and do a hdc, 1 hdc in each chain across the row, turn. (81 hdc)
Rnd 2,3:ch 2(counts as 1 hdc), 1 hdc in each hdc across the row, turn. (81 hdc)
Rnd 4:ch2, 1 hdc in each hdc across the row and sl st into the first hdc to make a round. (81 hdc)
Rnd 5: ch 3 (counts as first dc), 1 dc in each hdc around. Join the end.(81 dc)
